“The Embassy of Israel to the Holy See is outraged and shocked after learning that on May 11, at the conclusion of the World Meeting on Human Fraternity held in the atrium of St. Peter’s Basilica, the place was contaminated by a flagrant anti-Semitic speech. In a context where the aim was, supposedly, to talk about peace to create a more humane world, a propaganda speech full of lies was allowed to take place.”
This is what a note from the Israeli embassy to the Holy See states regarding the Meeting on Human Fraternity, which took place yesterday in the Vatican. “Talking about ethnic cleansing in Gaza while Israel allows large quantities of human aid to enter Gaza on a daily basis – adds the embassy – is Orwellian. We also regret that such a speech was uttered without anyone feeling the moral duty to intervene to stop this shame. This episode is yet another sign of how anti-Semitism and prejudice against Jews are still very much alive.”
