Russian troops bombed Kharkiv, in eastern Ukraine, in the early afternoon, destroying several apartment buildings, with people trapped under the rubble.
Mayor Igor Terekhov reported this on Telegram, quoted by Rbc-Ukraine, adding that a rescue operation is underway.

Russian forces are penetrating Ukrainian strongholds “along the entire line of contact.” This was stated by Moscow’s Defense Minister, Serghei Shoigu, quoted by the Interfax agency. Ukrainian forces are trying to maintain the defense lines but are retreating under pressure from Russian troops, Shoigu added, quoted by the Interfax agency.

“In Kharkiv a woman died following attacks by the Russian occupiers”. The head of the Kharkiv regional state administration, Oleg Synegubov, wrote this on Telegram in an update on the Russian raid that hit the eastern Ukrainian city this afternoon. “A 78-year-old man had an acute stress reaction” and “at least two private houses were destroyed”, he added, underlining that rescue operations continue.
