Houses with white walls in the shape of cubes, blue roofs, crystal clear sea and breathtaking views. All characteristics that bring to the minds of tourists the unmistakable and famous Santorini in Greece. But it has nothing to do with the Cycladic island. We are in China – in the province of Yunnan – where the Santorini Dali Resort has faithfully reproduced everything that characterizes the Aegean island. The videos that are popular on social media tell, in fact, of a “fake Chinese Santorini” created on Lake Erhai: magical atmosphere, houses perched on top of the cliffs and even restaurants serving “typical” Greek cuisine. The fake Santorini has already won over many users on TikTok where the videos published by influencers are going viral. Yasmin von Roon, a TikToker who discovered the imitation, said she was surprised by the resemblance, the sunny climate and also the strong wind which are reminiscent of those of the real Greek island.
