‘Green’ emergency in Moncalieri, one million euros for cutting the grass – Torino Oggi

TO Moncalieri And emergency green. Or better, green cutting. First the rain, then the abnormal heat, then the rain again contributed to the grass cutting problem exploding. “We are struggling and behind schedule” admits the councilor for public works Angelo Ferrerowhich in recent days announced the start of the first grass cutting operations.

Over 700 thousand square meters of parks and gardens

A delay due to the new tender, which has identified the companies that will take care of the maintenance and care of over 700 thousand square meters of parks and public gardens in the city. “We have just concluded the four-year framework agreement but on one of the three lots there was an appeal to the TAR and this put us in further difficulty. We have big requests and big problems, there is a lot of requests for grass cutting, we are behind, especially on the smaller areas. The framework agreements are positive, but the first year obviously starts a little more slowly” reiterates Ferrero, who responds to the criticisms by providing data and figures.

One million euros raised

We have allocated a considerable amount, equal to around one million euros per year, to the management of the greenery which allows us to make six-seven cuts during the season“. In recent years in Moncalieri the expenditure had settled at around 650 thousand euros, with the remaining part of the sum being used for pruning and tree management.

The workers have finally taken action in recent days. “We hope to complete the first round within a week“, concluded councilor Ferrero, asking the people of Moncalier to be a little more patient.
