Rome, 23 April 2024 – What are the real health conditions of Ramzan Kadyrov? According to what he writes Novaya Gazeta Europe the Chechen leader would be practically dying due to a “acute pancreatic necrosis”, from which the governor has been suffering for 5 years. The independent Russian newspaper, which cites sources – naturally anonymous – of theMoscow Central Hospital – reports the voice of a person close to Adam Delimkhanov, his close ally in Chechnya: “The old leader will no longer be here, the illness has hit him seriously”. The Kremlin has been looking for a replacement at the helm of Chechnya since last September when Kadyrov would have been hospitalized for one severe pulmonary crisis, a consequence of his illness. Even then there were rumors that it was more over there than here.”
Just as the news passes from Novaya Gazeta to Western newspapers, the Moscow Times raise a video published on the page of the Russian social network Vkontakte, managed by Kadyrov (or whoever for him), in which the Chechen commander he trains in the gym. “A full day, concluded with exercise and positivity”, the caption which seems to be a response to his news about his health, which was never explicitly mentioned. “Remember that taking care of your health is an investment in the future.” Kadyrov exercises with equipment, does stretches, push-ups, even performs a wrestling move.
The Moscow Times itself however mentions it another video appeared shortly after the publication of the Novaya Gazeta article, this time on Kadyrov’s Telegram channel, where the Chechen leader meets regional officials. “Here Kadyrov doesn’t move his body – MT writes – and you can feel it speak with difficulty”.

“The diagnosis of the disease in 2019”
According to Novaya Gazeta, the diagnosis of pancreatic necrosis was made in January of the 2019. In fact, the following month Kadyrov handed over his powers by decree to the president of the regional parliament “for the period of my temporary incapacity”. However, he did not refer to the illness. Such a decree – of temporary transfer of power – was signed in January 2020.
Since January 2019, the Grozny butcher – Kadyrov was renamed this way because he was implicated in numerous cases of torture and murder, carried out by his private army – he allegedly subjected himself to regular care in the Central hospital of Moca, included surgical interventions, this at least twice a year. In the summer of 2020, after a bout with COVID-19, Kadyrov reportedly developed “serious problems with his endocrine system.” Novaya Gazeta notes that rapid weight loss, experienced by Kadyrov in 2019, is a common early symptom of his illness.
In the spring of 2022, Kadyrov’s health began to “decline rapidly”, writes Novaya Gazeta. He reportedly developed renal failure and pulmonary edemaor accumulation of fluid in the lungs, which have made him difficult to talk and walk. In this context, the gym video (impossible to know when it was filmed) would be nothing more than propaganda. Simply put, fake news to hide the truth.
What is acute pancreatic necrosis
There necrosis of the pancreas is generally a result of acute pancreatitisinflammation whose triggering factors are above all i gallstones and consumption of alcohol, specifies the MSD manual. In more severe and prolonged cases, the inflammation degenerates into tissue necrosis (cells die). The consequences can be abscess of the pancreas, multiple organ failure, hemorrhage of necrotic lesions, conditions that usually require surgical intervention.
