Two little girls were stabbed in front of their school in Souffelweyersheim, a small town near Strasbourg, in eastern France. The stabber was arrested. The gendarmerie made this known.

According to BFM TV journalists on site, the attack occurred shortly after 2pm. The two girls were aged 6 and 11 and were not seriously injured in the street where their school is located. According to a municipal councilor contacted by BFM, all children from the primary school outside which the stabbing occurred are currently in the school building for safety reasons.

The two girls suffered only minor injuries. The attacker, 29 years old, was stopped a few minutes after the events and appears to be a person with mental imbalances. In any case he did not react to the arrest and is not known to the police for similar facts. His motivations “do not seem to have any connection with radicalisation”. According to the reconstruction, the man injured a little girl in the street of the elementary school, the other not far away, in a small square. A spokesperson for the prefecture explained to the alarmed parents gathered outside the school that the situation is under control.
