A 14-year-old Israeli boy “was killed in a terrorist attack” in the West Bank. This was announced by the Israeli army and police who were on his trail. The body of Benjamin Achimeir, who had not been heard from since yesterday morning when he went out to graze his flocks, was found in the Malachei HaShalom area, where he had disappeared. Meanwhile, clashes between settlers and Palestinians are intensifying in various locations in the West Bank, particularly after the discovery of Achimeir’s body.

The discovery of the body of Benjamin Achimeir

The 14-year-old had wandered away yesterday from a farm in the Jewish outpost of Malachei HaShalom, northeast of Ramallah, in the West Bank. Yesterday Israeli settlers mobilized to search for the 14-year-old, entering the nearby West Bank villages of Duma and Al-Mughayyir. During the clashes that immediately broke out with the residents, Wafa – which spoke of an “assault by the settlers” – reported one Palestinian killed and 18 others injured. Now the army and the police are on alarm fearing that, after the discovery of the body, there will be new and serious accidents.

The clashes between settlers and Palestinians

Palestinian media reported that settlers entered the towns of Beitin and Duma, near Ramallah. In the latter location, according to the same sources, vehicles were set on fire. According to Wafa, in the village of Al-Mughayir – not far from Malachei HaShalom, where the 14-year-old disappeared – six Palestinians were injured by “bullets”, “one of them seriously”.

Gallant warns settlers: “No acts of revenge”

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant condemned, in a post on X, the settlers’ “acts of revenge” after the killing of the young man. “I ask people to let the security forces act swiftly in their hunt for the killers. Acts of revenge make the work of our forces harder: do not take the law into your own hands,” he wrote on X. “Security forces they will catch the killers and use all legal measures against them as they do with any terrorist or murderer,” he added.
