AGI – The investigating judge of Palma de Mallorca has ordered the provisional detention of the four arrested tourists whom a young woman accuses of having sexually assaulted her in an apartment in Playa de Palma where she had gone to have consensual intercourse with one of them. According to what the Balearic national police command announced today, the events occurred between 2.00 and 6.30 on Sunday and the four arrested are of Italian nationality.
The victim met one of the tourists in a nightclub on the Paseo Maritimo of the Balearic capital, they liked each other and agreed to move to the apartment where the young man was staying, in Playa de Palma. In this accommodation, which the man shared with three friends, the young woman and him had consensual sexual intercourse, but then the other guests entered her room and allegedly raped her by holding her down and forcing her. The complainant left the tourist facility after taking the passport of one of the attackers and she went with him to a police station where she reported the incident.
In accordance with the protocol for sexual violence cases, the national police transferred the victim to a medical center. Based on the young woman’s testimony, investigators gathered information, located the accommodation of the accused and proceeded to arrest them before they left the island, which they had planned to do on Sunday. The four tourists were brought to court this morning as alleged perpetrators of a crime of sexual violence and the judge on duty ordered them to be detained without bail.
