The national palace, in Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, was attacked in the past few hours by armed men and several employees were trapped inside. In the incidents, at least five police officers were injured but the attack was later stopped by the police.
The assault led by armed gangs
The Haitian National Police (PNH) managed to stop the assault against the symbol of political power in the country, an action perpetrated by the coalition of armed gangs ‘Vivre Ensemble’ (Living Together), led by former policeman Jimmy Cherizier, alias Barbecue (SKY TG24 INTERVIEW WITH “BARBECUE”). The attackers also set fire to an armored police vehicle. In this context, the authorities have extended the curfew until Wednesday in the western department, where it is located Port au Prince. The government of Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry has promised to resign as soon as the Presidential Transitional Council is formalized.
