One Piece is a manga written and illustrated by Eiichirō Oda, serialized in Shūeisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since 22 July 1997. The publishing house periodically collects the chapters in tankōbon format volumes, of which the first was published on 24 December. The Italian edition is edited by Star Comics, which began publishing it in books corresponding to the Japanese volumes on 1 July 2001.

The story follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a boy whose body took on the properties of rubber after inadvertently ingesting a devil fruit. Recruiting companions to form a crew, Luffy explores the Grand Line in search of the legendary One Piece treasure and chasing his dream of becoming the new Pirate King.

One Piece is adapted into an anime television series, produced by Toei Animation and broadcast in Japan on Fuji TV from 20 October 1999. The Italian edition aired on Italia 1 from 5 November 2001 and then continued on Italia 2 in 2012; initially titled Boarding!, the series has had several name changes over the seasons, until settling on the original One Piece.

Toei Animation has also produced 13 television specials, 15 anime films, two 3D shorts, one ONA and one OVA. Various companies have made various types of merchandise out of it, such as soundtracks, video games and toys.
