TELESTENSE is one of the 135 broadcasters of the private radio and television system which, meeting the legal requirements, has received essential public contributions every year since 2018 to ensure the pluralism of local television information in the territories.
In the last two years, first the failure to collect public contributions linked to judicial disputes within the private radio and television system, then the delay in the distribution, combined with the crisis in advertising sales which accompanied, not only in Ferrara, Covid and the after Covid, they have accentuated the objective crisis that has been underway for some time in the world of Italian private radio and television broadcasting.
At this moment the state of agitation of the Telestense staff reflects this triple difficulty. We are certain that without the delay in the balance of the 2023 contributions, which were due to arrive in April from the Ministry of Made in Italy, this situation would not have arrived.
However, since we are aware that, beyond the contingent situation, private broadcasting has been experiencing a profound crisis for years, which, to be managed and overcome, requires the intervention of various forces, not only local ones, from the institutions to the business world , we hope that the attention of the Ferrara and regional world can help not to deprive Ferrara of a free and, we are certain, appreciated voice of local television information, and can at the same time lead the company towards a renewal that requires new forces , new technologies and investments, which, up until now, despite our search for partners, allies or buyers, have not been found.
