Between the waves of the Indian Ocean and the humid and rainy plateaus, the goals of Beijing Express in Sri Lanka they become something more: even more significant, even more tiring, even more decisive in view of the very last stages. Up for grabs – in the episode of Thursday 25 April, exclusively on Sky and streaming only on NOW – there is in fact the semi-final of this exciting journey along the Dragon’s Route, and travelers are called to run in incredible places where the tea plantations alternate with breathtaking natural glimpses and one of the most characteristic railways in the world.

Beijing Express, previews

With a population characterized by profound spirituality, for the five competing couples the competition will instead be fiery: the fatigue of the previous stages, during the 387 km that separate the ancient fortress of Galle from the eternal city of Kandy, which make up the route of this eighth stage, there will also be misunderstandings and disagreements that will put the psychological resistance of each competitor to the test.

After the last non-elimination stage, there are still five couples who will compete for access to the semi-final: Damiano and Massimiliano Carrara “I Pasticcieri”, Artem and Antonio Orefice “I Fratm”, Maddalena Corvaglia and Barbara Petrillo “Le Amiche”, Estefania Bernal and Antonella Fiordelisi “Italia Argentina” and Megan Ria and Maddalena Svevi “Le Ballerine”.

From the Galle lighthouse, the starting point of the race, travelers will find themselves at the mercy of the waves of the Indian Ocean and will go in search of sensational “like-grabbing” photos in the most “instagrammable” locations on the Sinhalese coast. Then, mission after mission, in the episode expected for Thursday 25 April at 9.15pm – exclusively on Sky Uno and streaming only on NOW, always available on demand and visible on Sky Go – the couples will arrive at the Elephant Transit Home, the National Park of Undawalawa where the first three couples will compete in the highly anticipated “elephant game”, the most legendary advantage test of the Beijing Express race.

And again, the program for travelers also includes a tiring climb up to the Nine Arches Bridge, crossed by the panoramic railway that connects Ella to Kandy, one of the most characteristic in the world, as well as a test to discover the country’s tea plantations. With a backpack containing, as always, a minimum amount of equipment and with 1 euro per day per person and in local currency, everyone rushed to the finish line set in the 14th century city of Kandy, capital of the last king of Sri Lanka, precisely inside an evocative abandoned prison. Here travelers will discover one of the most anticipated verdicts of the season: which couples will be able to access next week’s semi-final?
