Descriptive text here

Rai had accepted everything regarding Antonio Scurati’s monologue during Serena Bortone’s CheSarà broadcast. But then he changed his mind. And not for a question of money. This emerges from the reconstruction of the case he provides today Daily fact. While Defense Minister Guido Crosetto speaks of an “untimely censorship”. And he goes on the attack on Rai managers: «Public TV ends up impoverished by certain managers». And after the phone call to the Rai top management, Giorgia Meloni tries to rebut TeleMeloni’s accusation by curbing the four managers closest to her. That is, the general director Giampaolo Rossi, the in-depth director Paolo Corsini, the entertainment manager Angelo Mellone and the director of Tg1 Gianmarco Chiocci.

The Scurati-Rai negotiation

The reconstruction of the Scurati-Rai negotiation starts between 4 and 15 April. The initial cache offer amounts to one thousand euros, the request is 1,800. The deal closes at 1,500 on April 15th. The contracts office in Viale Mazzini signs it as an authorial service. The day before broadcast, i.e. Friday 19th, the editorial staff receives the monologue and forwards it to Corsini. At that point the offices blocked the contract. Justifying it with the compensation being too onerous. And also with the hypothesis that Scurati, who has a fiction on his M. trilogy coming out for Sky, could be considered in promotion. However, Rai leaves open a window for free participation. The broadcast at that point defines Scurati as a free participant (initial “Tg”). And the press release starts.

For free

At that point Bortone wrote to the managers to seek an agreement, but they did not reply. On Saturday morning the presenter speaks with the writer, who refuses to participate for free. Also because according to Bortone it is about censorship. At that point the presenter’s post on Instagram arrives which opens the case. And the CEO Roberto Sergio distances himself: «Rai is the victim of a political war with the aim of destroying it». This is denied by Rossi, who speaks of the opening of an investigation. Meanwhile, other cases are also emerging. Like that of the writers Nadia Terranova and Jennifer Guerra. And Scurati comments bitterly: «I thought there was democracy in Rai, I was wrong».

Minister Crosetto

In a backstory of Republic Minister Crosetto is portrayed as furious about the “obvious censorship” suffered by Scurati. «My opinion on many of Rai goes beyond today’s case», he adds. Because “they are impoverishing Rai”. And again: «It is proof that they live outside of time. You could have thought of censoring something in 1965, when you had three networks and nothing else. Censoring something now means giving it a very strong media push and multiplying the strength of a message. How did it happen”. His last thought is on historical controversies: «I think that fascism is fought with actions and not with proclamations. Anti-fascism means defending democracy, free institutions, free discussion, freedom of enterprise, the weakest. It means having an objective and clear judgment on the twenty years and on the wounds of fascism. That said, I think the same thing about communism.”
