Television is now part of the daily lives of all of us: it is difficult to think of a day without turning on the appliance to listen to the latest news or watch your favorite programme. A media revolution that began in the 1950s and involved the entire world populationradically changing people’s lives.

In Italy the spread of the medium occurred thanks to Rai, the first to broadcast black and white programs with the main protagonist being Mike Bongiorno with his Arrivals and Departures. The 1980s marked another big change, with the birth of Silvio Berlusconi’s commercial TV and his Fininvest, now Mediasetwhich effectively created the television duopoly.

Now, it seems that the new revolution is in the hands of Warner Bros Discovery, which with its latest acquisitions, Fabio Fazio and Amadeus, could give life to a new communication reality, giving greater choice to viewers. TV has often provided memorable moments, but one in particular has entered the hearts of social users, both iconic and kitsch, exhilarating and exciting. Curious to find out?

Mediaset, do you remember the legendary TV show? The VIDEO went viral on social media

Anyone who lived through the 80s and 90s cannot help but remember the legendary International Entertainment Grand Prix, better known as the Telegatti. Linked to the Magazine TV Sorrisi e Canzoni, created in 1971, from 1984 to 2008 it was broadcast on Mediaset and saw the most well-known and famous faces of not only Italian but also international entertainment taking turns on the stage of the Teatro Nazionale in Milan.

At the time, winning the Telegatto was no small feat: with all due respect to Hollywood, we could define the cat-shaped statuettes as the television equivalent of the American Oscar awards. It is no coincidence that over the course of more than 20 years, the program has hosted world-famous personalities. But one edition, in particular, has remained in the memory of TV fans, and even today the video of the guests’ presentation continues to make the rounds on social media.

This is the1997 edition presented by Milly Carlucci, who on that occasion found himself announcing among the guests, in a completely casual way, Raz Degan, Alba Parietti, The Duchess of York, Sabrina Ferilli and none other than Michael Jackson. A memorable moment, which many still regret today. In 2022 the Telegatti were reinstated, but the public at home would like to see them on air again with a dedicated evening with great splendor and times. A way to celebrate the small screen that many miss, and which until a couple of decades ago somehow marked the end of the television season.
