Those who are familiar with the festive liturgies of Japan know well that the week from Monday 29 April to Sunday 5 May overlaps with the so-called “Golden Week”, or to the most extended period of public holidays of the country, during which not only all editorial publications of the Japanese comics industry stop (from magazines, volumes and so on) but also the work activities of national companies cease. The week, in fact, is inaugurated by the so-called “Shōwa day”, the day on which the birthday of the late Emperor Hirohito, then followed on May 3 by Constitution Day, on May 4 by “Green Day” to finally culminate on Sunday with “Children’s Day”, which marks the end of the holiday period.
