Thus the seafront of one of the favorite summer destinations for the people of Palermo is reborn. The works have begun and from next summer the promenade will have a new face
The “Peppino Impastato” seafront in Terrasini is reborn. One of the seaside villages most frequented by Sicilians during the summer months is ready to transform into a real panoramic terrace. The redevelopment works have started recently, but within a few weeks residents and tourists will already be able to enjoy the first results. Let’s take stock of the situation.
The interventions, financed by the tourism, sport and entertainment department of the Sicilian Region, have a value of 1,500,000 euros, of which 1,000,000 for the works and 500,000 for sums made available to the administration.
«The main objective is the urban redevelopment of the seafront. We want to make it more beautiful and accessible, giving passers-by the opportunity to move freely, in total safety, and to enjoy the view in a different way than in the past” states the mayor of Terrasini, Giosuè Maniaci regarding the works, which aim to give unity to the entire seafront.

The works already started extend from Via delle Rimembranze to the Fishermen’s Village, located right above the Praiola beach. The section of interest will become entirely pedestrian.
There are several interventions that are being worked on. A vast has already been created green lawn where different tree species and types of flowers will be planted. Furthermore, it will be open to the public in the next few weeks a brand new pedestrian crossing which will allow residents to directly access Praiola beach.
The floors and railings will also be subject to restoration, in fact, new marble bases and new stainless steel railings will be inserted.
New street furniture and a new lighting system will also be introduced and interventions will be carried out to make the seafront more accessible to people with motor disabilities, the blind and visually impaired.
Of fundamental importance for the project is the widening of the roadway which will allow the seafront to be transformed into a real terrace from which to admire the maritime panorama: «the “Peppino Impastato” seafront will become a real terrace overlooking the sea entirely pedestrian, a summer attraction from which to observe the Terrasini viewpoint» concludes Giosuè Maniaci.
