Tomorrow the Agcom resolution on Par condicio will be examined by the Rai Supervisory Commission with the 34 amendments presented on the provision. At the center of the proposed changes is the mechanism envisaged by Agcom according to which, in the pre-election period, the presence and interviews of politicians are evaluated from both a quantitative and qualitative point of view. That is, also taking into account the time slots and share of the programs. Fratelli d’Italia, Lega and Noi moderates ask to eliminate the auditel link. And it asks, with Forza Italia, for the elimination of paragraph 5 bis, whereby a time slot has a certain indicator based on the average audience of Rai channels.
What the center-right (and not only) is asking for
The FdI deputies Francesco Filini and Maurizio Lupi of Noi moderato and senator Giorgio Maria Bergesio (Lega) ask for a “balanced” and not “equal” presence, with the suppression of paragraph 4-bis, i.e. the one “where Rai broadcasts the live broadcast of conferences or electoral rallies of a political entity must guarantee the broadcasting of live broadcasts also of the other competing entities in order to guarantee equal treatment”. The live broadcasts of conferences or electoral rallies broadcast, due to the amendment presented, “will be preceded by a suitable acronym and must be considered distinct from the news editions of the newspaper”. Not only that: the centre-right requests that “the representatives of the institutions” be excluded from the application of the law if they intervene “on matters relating to the exclusive exercise of the institutional functions carried out”. An amendment presented by Maria Elena Boschi of IV finally proposes to extend the limitations also to journalists and commentators, i.e. “to subjects and people not directly participating in the electoral competition who express opinions of political content”.
