Alfonso Signorini self-suspended himself from Mediaset after the storm arising from the accusations of Fabrizio Corona who denounced the existence of an alleged ‘system’ to enter the Big Brother house as a competitor or aspirant. The decision was welcomed by the Cologno Monzese company which made it known that it was ready to “counter the spread of defamatory reconstructions”, at the same time calling on those who work for the company to “rigorous application of the code of ethics”. But what happens now in the new edition of Big Brother VIP, the reality show that has seen the Milanese presenter and journalist at the helm of the latest editions?

Signorini has deleted Instagram

Signorini’s commitment to management, due to the affair in which he was involved and which came to the attention of the Milan prosecutor’s office, would now be officially cancelled. After the episodes of Fabrizio Corona’s Falsissimo which accuses him of having created a “system” that favors the entry of competitors or aspiring competitors into the most spied on house in Italy in exchange for correspondence, Alfonso Signorini deactivated his Instagram profile before moving away “as a precaution” from the company, suspending all commitments.

Who will be the new host?

What will happen now to the program he was supposed to lead next year? About two weeks ago Dagospia announced that Big Brother VIP would return to the air in March 2026, precisely starting from the “first Monday” of the month. And nothing at the moment, regarding the departure date, would have changed. The company now has to evaluate who to entrust the helm of the new edition to, a profile that safeguards the credibility of the format, which ended up at the center of the storm together with its now former host.

The toto-names and the showgirl couple

Already several days ago, after the media storm that hit Signorini, all the names on the new management of Big Brother had been revealed. And two profiles, in particular, would seem to be the favorites according to rumors and preferences of viewers: those of Ilary Blasi, now a veteran of the reality world who would also return to hosting a program she knows well, having hosted it from 2016 to 2018, and Michelle Hunziker. No certain news is now coming from the top levels of the company which, in the last few hours, has broken the silence by making it known that it has accepted Signorini’s decision to leave the company.

The words of Signorini’s lawyers

Lawyers Daniela Missaglia and Domenico Aiello, new lawyers for the host and director of the weekly ‘Chi’, claim that a “slanderous and defamatory campaign” is underway aimed at “destroying” the honorability of their client. “The main person responsible for this surreal and virulent attack is known – they say – a person who today would like to take on the role of judge and public prosecutor”. “To deal with these very serious illicit conducts, which are obvious to everyone, and above all the widespread reverberation they find in some nonchalant media – they say in a note -, Alfonso Signorini, a professional who has built an entire career as a journalist, author, director and television presenter with scruple, seriousness and self-sacrifice, is forced to suspend as a precaution all his ongoing editorial commitments with Mediaset”.

All television collaboration has therefore been frozen, starting from the possible hosting of the next edition of GF Vip, expected in March on Canale 5.

In a note, Mediaset, welcoming Signorini’s decision, states that “it will act with determination in all locations on the exclusive basis of objective elements and verified facts to counter the spread of defamatory or slanderous content and reconstructions”. At the same time, the company «reiterates that those who work for the company are required to adhere to clear principles of correctness, responsibility and transparency, as defined by the Code of Ethics, which is applied without exceptions. All investigations and checks are underway to ensure compliance.”

Corona’s accusations

Signorini had filed a complaint for revenge porn against Corona after the former photographic agent in his program ‘Falsissimo’ had accused him of having carried out for years a “system” of sexual favors requested from participants of Big Brother or GF Vip or from those who aspired to enter the famous house. Corona had shown photos and chats between the host and the former competitor of Big Brother VIP, 2021-2022 edition, Antonio Medugno. The investigators therefore carried out searches on Corona, acquiring images and chats, before proceeding with his interrogation. «Even in the minutes I spoke about the Signorini system – explained the photographer after the interrogation -. For three minutes I talked about revenge porn and an hour about the crimes committed by Signorini, all his trips and all his friendships. I have more than a hundred testimonies, I have mentioned the names to the prosecutors and two complaints against him are already ready.”

The first, by Medugno, has already been filed with the prosecutor’s office. The crimes referred to are sexual violence and extortion, but the lawyers of the former GF competitor have expressly asked the magistrates to evaluate the possible existence of further charges and the possible identification of other perpetrators. The second could come from another participant in the GF, Gianluca Costantino, who claims to have received advances from Signorini immediately after the 2022 edition. The complaints could trigger an investigation into the journalist and presenter, even if the facts reported will have to be verified, when they date back and the qualification of any crimes. Endemol Shine Italy, the production company of Big Brother, also announced that it had started internal checks to shed light on the way in which the auditions for the latest editions of the reality show were carried out.
