A black Friday is expected for all commuters: the union Faisa Confail announced for today, Friday 7th July, a nationwide 24-hour public transit strike. In Rome the protest will affect both Atac That Rome Tplwith possible inconvenience also on the connections of Cotral. Protection time slots are foreseen, before 8.30 and between 17 and 20, while night transport is also at risk.
Atac communicated on Twitter that the Metro A made the last runs at 8.30, then it was closed. The other metro lines in Rome are active.

On Friday 7 July, on the bus network (including Cotral), trolleybuses, trams and undergrounds, the service will only be ensured from the time of the first daytime run at 8.30 and then from 17 to 20.

Night transport in Rome is at risk: the guaranteed slots

There will be no change in the park and ride areas. Even the online ticket offices will not suffer any interruption of service.
During the day of the strike, however, the service of the Atac physical ticket offices is not ensured, nor of escalators, lifts and freight elevators inside the metro stations that may be open.
The reasons for the strike of 7 July 2023 in Rome
According to reports on the Roma Mobilità website, the strike was called to “claim the lack of essential content in the CCNL for the category, especially in relation to the ongoing increase in the cost of living, safety at work, working hours, conditions of women’s work, the organization of work and all those issues that require urgent and necessary attention”.
