The New Fiat Topolino VS Citroen Ami: features, differences, equipment and prices

The Casa del Lingotto recently officially unveiled the new one Fiat Topolino, a 100% electric quadricycle that dusts off a historic name in the brand’s history, positioning itself below the 500e in terms of price and size. The new Topolino was born from an intelligent project by the Stellantis Group, in fact, it shares many components and mechanical parts with the “cousin” Citroen Ami, launched on the market in 2020. Despite the characteristics in common, the two small zero-emissions differ in design and above all from a conceptual point of view. Now we just have to discover together the characteristics, the differences and all the other details that identify these two models with great appeal and potential.

Fiat Topolino, the characteristics

From a stylistic point of view, the Topolino sports a front that immediately recalls the history of Fiat, thanks to the typical round headlights, the bumper band and the silver-coloured mirrors, with a strong vintage flavor. The range includes two different bodies, namely a closed version and an open one called Dolce Vita. The latter recalls the “spiaggine” of the 60s and is distinguished by the two cords that take the place of the doors. Just long 2.53 meters in length, the car is powered by an electric motor which allows it to reach a maximum speed limited to 45km/h. The engine is powered by a battery 5.4 kWh which offers up to 75km of autonomy with a single charge of energy that can be done in less than four hours. We remind you that the Topolino can be driven from 14 years old. Despite its small size, the car offers excellent roominess thanks to the presence of two misaligned seats, and you can also count on a large glazed surface which increases the perception of space and its luminosity. It is possible to count on numerous compartments positioned in a strategic way, among which one of these, which is located between the driver and the passenger, can even accommodate a suitcase, for a total space of 63 liters of internal load space.

Citroen Ami, the characteristics

Derived directly from the AMI ONE Concept, presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019, the Citroen Ami measures 2.41m long, 1.39 m wide and 1.52 m high, and can also count on a turning radius of just 7 metres. The car can count on large glass surfaces and on panoramic roof, offered as standard which offer a high internal luminosity. The side windows boast a tilting opening, recalling those of the historic 2 CV. One of the aces up the sleeve of this car is the high level of customization, thanks to the presence of aesthetic and functional accessory kits for the exterior and interior. The latter are available in 4 shades (Orange, Grey, Khaki and Blue) and can be applied alone quickly and easily. To these are added the three versions called My Ami POP, My Ami Tonic and My Ami VIBE. The first is distinguished by elements with a young and sporty style (we also find a rear spoiler), while the third boasts accessories of a superior and elegant range, it also integrates the roof bars in addition to the stickers. The variant that is positioned at the center of the range called My Ami Tonic sports a new look emphasized by the headlight caps that recall sunglasses. On the outside, it incorporates the enhancing equipment characteristic of Vibe.

The 6 kW electric motor guarantees a range of 75 km on a single charge, while the maximum speed is electronically limited to 45 km/h. To fully recharge the batteries are used less than 4 hours.
