Who was Craig Raymond Turner?
Craig Raymond was born on August 29, 1958 from the relationship between Tina Turner and Raymond Hillthe saxophonist of the Kings of Rhythm, Ike Turner’s backing band. Tina and Raymond’s romance, which began when she was 18, soon fell apart and the singer began a relationship with Ike, as well as joining her band and later marrying him. Their relationship was toxic, with Tina repeatedly being subjected to domestic violence, which certainly weighed on Craig’s growth.
He was “an emotional child”, as his mother had defined him when speaking of him during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
“Ike’s kids never fought back, but my oldest son, Craig, was a very emotional kid. He always had a sad look. One day when Ike was arguing with me, Craig knocked on the door and said, ‘Mom, are you okay?’”
Unlike Tina, Craig had chosen to stay and live in the United States. He worked as a real estate agent for Rodeo Realty in Beverly Hills.
Suicide
Craig shot himself to death at the age of 59. He was found dead in his office. Tina Turner got the news while she was in Paris. A very hard blow for her, already tried by precarious health conditions.
His biological father died in 1996, but he was survived by his mother and half-brother Ronald.
