The Spanish champion, fresh from the defeat against the Czech Jiri Lehecka in the round of 16 in Madrid, will try to obtain a noteworthy result on the red clay of the Capital. The 37-year-old hopes to regain the physical form of his best days and make his mark at the Italian Internationals, with the aim of being competitive for the now imminent Roland Garros.
The left-handed player from Manacor, currently number 305 in the ATP ranking, will face the 24-year-old, number 108 in the world. There are no precedents between the two players. The appointment is for Thursday 9 February, it will be the second match on the central court starting from 11.00 am and will not start before 1.00 pm.
