The controversial marriage to Ike Turner
The relationship between Ike Turner (whose full name is Isaac Wister) and Tina Turner was rather controversial and turbulent and, as well as artistic, also sentimental. The first meeting in the late fifties, in a club in Sain Louis, where the musician played with his band Kings of Rhythm, a very active group in those years. A first of all musical collaboration soon began between them, so much so that they formed the duo Ike and Tina Turner Revuewho achieved his first success in 1960 with the song A Fool in Love.
Over time, a feeling of love was born between them, so strong that they decided to get married. The wedding was held in 1962 in Tijuana, Mexico when Tina Turner was just 22 years old. In addition to being invalid because Ike did not obtain a divorce from his first wife, the wedding soon turned out to be a nightmare: the man he was constantly abusing her. Tina Turner, to escape that situation, attempted to take his own life taking on 50 sleeping pills. “When I took those pills, I chose death, and I honestly chose it. I was unhappy when I woke up” he recounted. Finally, in 1976, she managed to escape and asked for a divorce. Ike Turner died in 2007 of an overdose.
Love found again with Erwin Bach
Several years after the nightmare lived with Ike Turner, Tina Turner has found love again with Erwin Bach. The first meeting in 1985, when the producer he worked for Emi, and they have never left each other since. Twenty-eight years later, in 2013, they tied the knot in the small town of Kusnacht, Switzerland, where they still lived today. The two have 16 years difference and they had no children together.
