Aleksander Mateusz Chomiak, 24 years old, residing in Grudziadz, Poland. Brown, blue eyes, is six feet tall by seventy kilos. Police believe he attacked the 24-year-old Israeli girl at Termini station and ran away.

After the first video of little use to recognize him published after the stabbing, the boy was identified thanks to another video that shows his face more clearly. Now the police searches have started, in Rome and outside the city.

Aleksander Mateusz Chomiak wore a black cap on his head and dark clothes: also for this reason his identification through the video surveillance systems was complex, given that at the time he went into action almost all the shops were closed. Nobody saw anything. A racial hypothesis had also been hypothesized, given the Jewish symbols on the girl’s backpack, but at the moment the police are contesting the attempted murder without the aggravating circumstance of racial hatred. But what is the story of Aleksander Mateusz Chomiak?

He would have been in Italy at least since April and in this time he has never worked. As a homeless man, he spent his nights on trains, on stairways and in abandoned buildings. During the day, however, he was spotted outside McDonald’s and in stations, trying to regain free access to the Internet. The family last saw the boy in Poland on 23 October. The prefect of Rome: “The attack seems to be the work of a madman”

“The act of aggression of December 31 seems to have been the work of a madman. In the light of the documents I have read, I think this is the case. Let us bear in mind that we have a volume of people circulating in Termini of 500 thousand a day. A real and own city and this therefore poses a problem of control”, said the prefect of Rome Bruno Frattasi regarding the stabbing of Abigail Dresner. “I had intuition that it was not a predatory act or a sexual assault. It was an assault that lasted seven seconds”, the vision of the prefect.
