Good morning friends of OA Sport and welcome to the LIVE STREAM text of the fourth stage of the Tour de France 2024After the first three stages entirely in Italy, we arrive on French soil with the first stage of this edition of the Grande Boucle. The start is in Pinerolo while the finish is 139.6 km further on in Valloire.
The runners will face 3600 meters of altitude difference today. Shortly after the start the road will start to climb towards Sestriere with the first GPM of the day (39.9 km at 3.7% average gradient). After a short descent there is the ascent of the Col de Montegenevre (8.3 km at 5.9%). Next up is the legendary climb of Galibier (23 km at 5.1%). From the top of the latter there will be less than 20 km to the finish.
The clear favourites for this stage are Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates Team) e Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike). After the first skirmish on the San Luca, the two will find themselves in a direct clash that could give very important indications for the continuation of this race. Richard Carapaz (EF Education – EasyPost) will try to defend the yellow jersey: the task will be very difficult given the ex aequo in the standings together with the two champions and Evenepoel (Soudal Quick Step).
The fourth stage of the 2024 Tour de France will start in Pinerolo at 1.15pm. It will be possible to follow the entire fraction on Eurosport 1 and on Rai (Rai Sport 13.15-14.00 and then Rai 2).
