CARRARA – Many new faces and just as many confirmations for the twenty-sixth edition of Torano Notte e Giorno. There are 23 artists selected by the artistic direction of the widespread exhibition of contemporary art, culture and typical gastronomy promoted by the Pro Torano Committee who will contaminate the squares, alleys, cellars and porticos of the Torano town with their works and installations. The exhibition, scheduled from 25 July to 13 August, is inspired this year by Roald Dahl’s fictional story and Tim Burton’s famous 2005 adaptation of the “Chocolate Factory”. And it is this theme that the artists had to draw on to develop their works.

The list of participants was made official by Emma Castè, artistic director of the historic event: “Many new and emerging artists, many from foreign nationalities who live in our country, appear for the first time at Torano Notte e Giorno which confirms itself as a stage summer reference point for contemporary art. One in two is participating for the first time. This is the element that immediately catches the eye. – explains the artistic director – This year too we had many requests to participate in the competition named after Franco Borghetti and it was not easy to select the works, and therefore exclude others. The imprint that we wanted to give to this edition is that of an exhibition that can be enjoyed by enthusiasts as well as pleasant for tourists and families who can truly walk here and immerse themselves in the spirit of the village which for the occasion, like every summer, will dress up in theme . Colors will once again dominate the scene. The favorite material for the works is naturally marble.”

The art journey in the village, which since 2011 has been fighting against femicide and against all forms of discrimination using the language of art and communication, is enriched this year by the audio-visual exhibition “Women interned in Maggiano” promoted by the Femminile Writing association and born from an idea by Alessandra Celi and Luciana Vietina, hosted, for the entire period of the exhibition, in the Church of Santi Quattro (free entry). The centerpiece of the event is the Artistic Residency named after the late Bernardo Rossi which this year will be all-female with the unprecedented collaboration between the sculptor Marianna Blier and the photographer and multimedia artist Paola Cassola. The two artists will work side by side in the village to give life to a new artistic project that will become the heritage of the Toranese Sculpture Park. And again the space of the Torano lounge with events, presentations and culture and the typical gastronomy every evening in the town square with stools and much more.

The selected artists are Achille Pardini, Alexandra Borodinova, Andrea Vannoni, Carmen Bertacchi, Dale, Giorgio Meccheri, Leonel Guarda, Luciana Bertaccini, Maria Gasparotti, Massimiliano De Vitis, Massimiliano Merler, Maurizio Martinelli, Michele Monfroni, Oxana La, Orazio Luciano Vittorio Ricci, Roger Martin Wilson, Rosanna Rotondi, Sandra Rigali, Stefano Graziano, Stefano Siani, Viola Maria Rossi, Veronica Caleo, Vittoria Angela Romei.
