Death of Satnam Singh: Entrepreneur Antonello Lovato Arrested

The entrepreneur Antonello Lovato, owner of the company for which Satnam Singh, the Indian citizen who died after being left without help after losing an arm in a machine, was arrested in execution of a custody order issued by the investigating judge of the Latina court. This morning the Carabinieri of the Latina company executed the arrest warrant against the agricultural entrepreneur.

The charge is that of “wilful homicide with eventual intent”, varying, as explained by the Latina prosecutor’s office, the initial hypothesis of manslaughter. The forensic medical examination on the man’s body has in fact ascertained that if the Indian, who died from copious blood loss, “had been promptly rescued, he would most likely have been saved”. The young worker had instead been loaded onto a minibus by his employer and left in front of his home, on the outskirts of Cisterna.

“The worker’s conditions after the accident – reads a note from the prosecutor’s office – were so serious as to make it clear that prompt assistance was needed. At this stage, it must therefore be considered that the decision to omit the necessary assistance constituted acceptance of the risk of the lethal event and constituted the cause that directly determined the death”.

However, the investigations into the case are far from over and are continuing with the aim of ascertaining the working conditions within the company where the accident that cost the life of the labourer occurred.
