OTRANTO – A terrible collision between cars and motorbikes on provincial road 48, the Otranto-Martano, and a young life lost in yet another accident that turns into a tragedy. It was a night of blood and extraordinary interventions that just ended, already marked by the disturbing news that arrived in the evening from Castrignano de’ Greci with the discovery of an elderly man dead in the house with bruises all over his body and the flames that once again affected Le Cesine.
Unfortunately, this new dramatic chapter has been added to the two events. The victim is Federico Baldi, a 29-year-old from Otranto, who was driving the two-wheeled vehicle, a Kawasaki. It all happened during the night, near the Montevergine farm, in circumstances yet to be clarified. It seems, from the first summary reconstructions, that a BMW, with tourists on board, was maneuvering to head towards Otranto, when the vehicle, driven by the young man, who was arriving from Martano, collided.
A terrible collision that left no escape for the young man. The emergency services arrived immediately, with the 118 vehicles arriving on the scene and the paramedics trying to revive the 29-year-old, but there was nothing to be done for him: the injuries he suffered as a result of the accident were too serious. The victim’s body was transferred to the Vito Fazzi hospital in Lecce.
The Carabinieri intervened on the scene of the tragedy to carry out the necessary surveys and to reconstruct the event. Both vehicles were seized.
