Chieri, 29 June 2024 – Twenty-one crews registered for Memory Fornaca started, last Saturday 22 June, the thirteenth edition of the Rally Lana Storico, the fourth round of the trophy organized by the Turin association “Amici di Nino”.
At the end of the six very demanding timed sections, Marco Bertinotti and Andrea Rondi on a Porsche 911 RS signed the one-two, winning both the rally and the Memory classification, repeating in this case the victory at Valli Cuneesi last May and thus reaching third place in the general classification. Then, two other coupés from Stuttgart completed the hypothetical race podium: those of Lucio Da Zanche and Alberto Salvini, second and third paired with Giuseppe Livecchi and Davide Tagliaferri. However, the coup was delivered by Luca Delle Coste, on the Ford Escort RS shared with Giuliano Santi, who thanks to the points from fourth place in the race, returned to the top in the overall championship where Maurizio Cochis and Milva Manganone on the Opel Kadett GSI took second place, but separated by 16 points. In the general classification the previous leader Tiziano Nerobutto (Opel Ascona 400) slips to fourth place and Bruno Graglia also marks the pace, forced to retire with the BMW M3 and Roberto Barbero at the notes, now fifth.
Also standing out are Marco Maiolo and Maria Teresa Paracchini (Porsche 911 RS) now sixth and just behind Graglia, followed in seventh position by another 911, that of Roberto Giovannelli and Isabella Rovere who in turn precede Fulvio Astesana and Marina Mandrile (Subaru Legacy) by 1 point. Completing the top ten overall after the halfway point of the first four races are the Porsche 911s of Da Zanche and Lombardo with Consiglio on the notes.
THE CLASSES – If there are no updates after the Lana from the “1150” with Ruggeri and Marzi in command, it is the “1300” that confirms the lead of Marco Simoni and Matteo Grosso with their third seasonal center with the Peugeot 205 Rallye. Among the “1600” it is Ermanno Caporale who takes off with the Lancia Fulvia shared with Hervè Navillod, and Massimo Giudicelli also enters the game on the Volkswagen Golf GTI together with Simone Bottega, and Francesco Espen with Gabriella Guglielmo also on the Lancia Fulvia. Alessandro Bottazzi loses ground, having retired with the Opel Corsa GSI. The situation in the “2000” is also interesting with Delle Coste in command but threatened by Cochis who keeps pace, detached by 8 lengths; short ranking in the “over 2000” class where Roberto Giovannelli and Isabella Rovere on Porsche 911 enjoy the lead with a 6-point advantage over Bertinotti and Rondi, 8 over Nerobutto and 12 over Graglia. Giovannelli also stands out among the “over 60” drivers while in the “under 40” Delle Coste still prevails. Milva Manganone remains in command of the women’s ranking, detaching Lucia Zambiasi by 6 points with Isabella Rovere moving up to provisional third place.
The situation among the Opel cars also changes with the special ranking dedicated to them that includes the primacy of Cochis, leader with a large margin over Nerobutto. Finally, in the challenge of the teams, Team Bassano puts a serious mortgage on the final victory, counting at half season three times the points compared to Rally & Co.
Having archived the Rally Lana Storico, the Memory Fornaca gives an appointment for the four decisive races that will enliven the series starting from mid-September when the Rally del Grappolo Storico will take place in San Damiano d’Asti and two weeks later it will be the turn of the classic meeting on the Island of Elba where the actors of the Italian Historic Car Rally Championship will also return as protagonists. For the final verdicts, however, we will have to wait for the decisive stages, first with the Giro dei Monti Savonese in Albenga on 9 and 10 November and two weeks later, the grand finale with La Grande Corsa in Riva near Chieri which will assign increased points by virtue of the coefficient 1 ,5.

The calendar of the Memory Fornaca 2024 – March 1-2: Rally Vallate Aretine; May 17-18: Rally Valli Cuneesi May 31/June 1 Valsugana Rally; June 21-22: Rally Lana Storico; September 14-15: Rally Il Grappolo; September 26-28: Rallye Elba Storico; November 9-10: Giro Monti Savonesi; November 22-23 La Grande Corsa
