Like fish on the rocks” is the latest coming-of-age novel written by Simona Moraci who, in addition to being a successful author, “Two hundred days of storm” and “L’Eterno” her last two narrative works, is also a journalist and teacher .
The novel is set in Messina in 1998 and Save attends the fifth year of scientific high school. The son of a fisherman, a violent father who degrades his son and wife, he is the victim of ridicule at the hands of his companions, including Luca. While Chiara, in her third year at the same institute, has a family that supports her and allows her to cultivate her passion for writing, dreaming of becoming famous. Chiara and Save, after a chance clash in the physics laboratory, begin a relationship that speaks of an immature and turbulent love as only adolescence can be. Until Chiara finds herself in a very complex and dangerous situation, which is not at all suited to her inexperience. With her friend Tilde she gets involved with Luca and his friends, in a labyrinth of events that degenerate very quickly, hijacking the course of destiny not only of Chiara herself and Save, but also of all the protagonists involved. They are the bumpy paths of love as well as of life that knot, sever and twist hands, feelings and souls in an inexorable passage of time but still full of new beginnings and existential cycles, in a hot and tormented Messina, where the opportunities for redemption from social wrongs must be sought in order to enjoy the future and escape verdicts already written.
