discovered by the Roccabianca carabinieri –

At the end of a detailed investigation, it was the Carabinieri of the Roccabianca station who identified and reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Parma the alleged perpetrators of a dexterous theft, a couple of Romanians, he 39, she 35 years old.

The facts date back to a few days ago when an 80-year-old from Soragna, after being approached on the street by the 35-year-old, found herself without the gold chain she was wearing around her neck.

Once the victim returned home, although unaware that she had been robbed, she told her granddaughter about that strange encounter that had taken place shortly before in a street in the center of Soragna, in which the old woman had been approached by a woman who she said was from the Eastern Europe, who with the excuse of looking for work left her a note with a telephone number.

But the thing that remained in her mind the most were the repeated hugs that the 35-year-old gave in abundance to the victim as a sign of thanks for at least listening to her. At this point, grandmother and granddaughter understood that unfortunately those hugs were part of a well-written script, of a film they had already seen and from a quick check, her gold chain was missing from the woman’s neck. The connection between the disappearance of the object and the meeting with the woman was all too simple. At this point, the woman went to the Carabinieri where she filed a complaint.

The investigations began immediately, for which the Carabinieri of Roccabianca were activated who, without wasting time, acquired and viewed the images recorded by the cameras and license plate reading systems present in the area.

Among the hundreds of cars that passed through the area, however, one attracted the attention of the Carabinieri, a black small car, already reported in the past as it was noticed wandering around the municipalities of the lowlands in a rather suspicious manner. Having acquired a first significant investigative element, the Carabinieri monitored all the movements of the car, up to the time in which the events presumably took place.

The initiative undertaken proved to be particularly profitable as a public camera was positioned near the location of the event, where the arrival of the car of interest was documented, filming the entire scene.

The images showed the 35-year-old who in fact, as reported by the victim, with a lightning move, disguised by constant hugs, managed to tear the necklace from the neck of the unfortunate victim without her realizing it, getting back into the car and driving away.

By analyzing frame by frame, inserting the images depicting the faces of the two alleged perpetrators into a computerized system used by the Carabinieri specifically for facial recognition, the two perpetrators of the theft were identified.

The reconstruction of the dynamics saw the woman acting with the task of approaching, distracting and carrying out the theft and the man with cover tasks.

At the end of the investigative findings obtained, the couple, without prejudice to the principle of innocence valid until a final sentence, were reported to the Parma Prosecutor’s Office for theft with complicity.
