Alessandria, Lega on the future of Amag: “No to the sale of water and gas networks”

The League asks for clarifications for the people of Alessandria regarding jobs and the possible increase in Tari, water and other services after the entry of the private partner.

The League on the future of Amag

The leader of the League at Palazzo Rosso, Mattia Rogeroduring the city council meeting on Wednesday evening dedicated to the reorganization and future of AMAG, he reiterated his party’s position in this regard: No to the sale of water and gas networkswhich represent the only true strategic asset of the AMAG Group, and they are a heritage of the entire Alexandrian community. We are in favor of evaluating the creation of a provincial-sized multi-utility, starting with a water company. But it must be a company totally public capital with the protection of the Group’s employment levels”.

“Moreover, Egato 6 has indicated 2034 as the date for overcoming the current network contract. Why does the Democratic Party have such a desire to accelerate? – adds Roggero – Furthermore, I remind you, in this case regular tenders of a European dimension will have to be called: it is not possible to move in a dimension of individual negotiation with this or that private partner”.

“The AMAG Group has been sailing by sight for two years – says the leader of the League – between immobility and uncertainty. Innovative projects like the smart cities and the energy communities, which would have projected the Group to the forefront of Europe, making it competitive and efficient, were scrapped due to ‘bias’, with the risk of paying out millions in compensation. The center left has stood out, from September 2022 to today, only for the ‘circular’ of managers who were absolutely unsuitable for us.”

The future of employees

The League’s concern is also linked to the future of the employees “abandoned in limbo” and how many of these could risk their jobs.
How many of these Alessandria workers risk their jobs, in the new organizational model that the mayor Abonante and the councilor Laguzzi have decided to endorse on the recommendation of their new consultants, and completely disavowing the work of the previous professionals, identified during the Rossa mandate , and which the center right decided to confirm from December 2019 to September 2022 precisely to give continuity to the organization and company projects?”.

A final reflection is dedicated to ccitizens of Alexandria: “For two years now the city has been dirty and abandoned, waste is everywhere, and we expect even worse in these summer months. On the other hand the Tari has abnormal costs, and we would not want the same fate to befall water, with the new course prefigured by Abonante and Laguzzi. With the referendum of 12 and 13 June 2011also promoted by the left, 26 million Italian citizens sanctioned that it would no longer be possible to make any profit on water, and that it should remain under totally public control and available to all. Does Mayor Abonante still think this way today, or is he preparing to hand over ownership and management of the networks to private individuals?
