TANK – Nin the field of assistance to victims of code red and in particular to the vulnerable victims, the Carabinieri of Cisterna di Latina (LT), on 24 June they arrested a 34-year-old foreign citizen in flagrante delictooriginally from Eastern Europe, which regularly hired as a caregiver to take care of a 90-year-old Italian citizen, resident in Cisterna di Latina (LT), recognized as a “handicapped individual in a serious situation” pursuant to law 104/1992, attacked the elderly woman, causing multiple bruises to her head and various parts of her body.
The intervention of the military personnel occurred following the request for intervention made by the elderly woman’s son to the emergency number 112 which was answered by the operator of the Operations Center of the Carabinieri Territorial Department of Aprilia who immediately sent a patrol from the local Carabinieri Station to the scene.
The military personnel who arrived on site were informed by the applicant that, looking at the video surveillance cameras installed inside his mother’s home, he had shortly before witnessed live a violent physical attack by the caregiver towards the elderly woman she was supposed to take care of. The victim, as a result of the attack, he suffered various traumas to his face and body which required the intervention of 118 personnel that in consideration of the traumas detected, it was deemed appropriate to transport the woman to the Latina hospital for the necessary diagnostic investigations and appropriate treatment.
There carer, reached inside the apartment, in the bedroom she used, was in a clear state of alteration due to the abuse of alcoholic substances and, even in the presence of the soldiers who intervened, continued to maintain a agitated and aggressive attitude, both towards the victim and her family members present on site, until he threw himself behind the old woman who had been taken by the arm by her son.
Blocked by the active military, the woman showed further aggression towards them too who, therefore, declared her under arrest for the crimes of mistreatment against family members or cohabitants, aggravated because committed against a disabled person and resistance to a public official.
