COSENZA River hearing for Dalia Aly, the young former student of the “Valentini-Majorana” high school in Castrolibero. The young woman through the Instagram page “call.out.valentini.majorana” she was the first to report the harassment, describing the alleged advances of a professor at the Institute. Social media are powerful means of resonance and in a short time dozens of comments and testimonies from other students arrive on the page. A story that rises to the forefront of national newspapers with the occupation of the school by the children and demonstrations in the streets to ask for light to be shed on the facts told by some students. The teacher Angelo Giuseppe Bastone is accused in the trial. The mathematics and physics teacher is accused of sexually harassing some high school students. Also on trial is the former principal of the institute Jolanda Maletta, accused of omission of official documents. For four hours the young woman answered questions from the prosecutor’s office and the defense lawyers (lawyers Attilio Santiago and Giovanni Consoli for Bastone), essentially confirming her version of the facts. The trial is taking place behind closed doors and in the next hearing two other young people who at the time of the events were high school students will be examined. Two of the alleged victims and the “Roberta Lanzino” anti-violence center in Rende, represented by the lawyer Marina Pasqua, appeared as civil parties in the trial.
