“PHOS. I am fire” debuts at the Archaeological Park of Segesta

He will leave on 1st July at the Archaeological Park of Segesta, “PHOS. I am the fire” innovative and cross-media project born from the collaboration between the management of the archaeological park, led by Luigi Biondo, CoopCulture – which manages the Park’s public services – e Odd Agency, company specialized in the valorization of cultural heritage.

The starting idea is that the valorisation of a site can also draw inspiration from a destructive event such as the fire of July 2023and from here start an experimental project with a strong ethical message: the fire that gives life if used correctly, on the contrary can destroy and become an instrument of death, war, devastation.

To exorcise the memory of the devastating fire that stopped a year ago a few steps from the temple of Segestabut charred the Mediterranean scrub of the archaeological park, an extraordinary spectacle was born which treats the monument with reverence but immerses it in a sea of “liquid” images. An immersive and, at the same time, narrative videomapping, between acting, music and illustration. At the centre, the story which, starting from Greek mythology, addresses the relationship between man and fire.

Dario Muratore will perform an unpublished theatrical textcombined with video mapping, becoming an animated character among the multimedia images, a personification of fire who, in the first person, asks the public for awareness of its value.

An immersive installation that will involve the public, thanks to the starry nights over Segesta, and the Temple which becomes magical at night.

The project, which will debut on July 1, will go ahead until the 18th (except the 12th), two performances every evening, at 9.20pm and 10.20pm.

You must show up at the entrance twenty minutes before the start of the show. The Segesta archaeological park will be open in July until 11pm.
