Yesterday evening, the personnel of the Flying Squad and the Flying Squad arrested a foreigner caught while he was committing extortion against a young Italian.

In particular, on June 19, the boy was the victim of the theft of a gold chain while he was inside the local bus station and the following day he received extortion messages via WhatsApp, with which the criminal ordered him to deliver 200 euros to get him back into possession of the necklace.

After negotiation, the victim agreed to deliver the sum of 150 euros by 21 June 2024 at around 5pm in Piazza Santa Maria Goretti, in order to regain possession of his chain.

Following the complaint filed by the persecuted person, a targeted service was prepared by the agents of the Flying Squad and Flying Squad, which culminated in the arrest of the non-EU citizen, who, upon delivery of the agreed sum of money, returned the chain.

At the time of the intervention, the extortionist, who was in the company of another individual who immediately fled, attempted to free himself in order to escape arrest, causing a police officer to fall to the ground but was still stopped by the other officers and found in possession of the sum of money that had been given to him shortly before.

At the end of the formalities, the criminal was declared under arrest for the crimes of extortion and resistance to a public official and associate, this morning, at the local prison.
