WORK AND EXPLOITATION

The story of the Indian boy Satnam Singh, (to whom we address a sad and dismaying thought and to whom we ask for forgiveness), who tragically died in the countryside bordering Neptune and who aroused much emotion among the local population, cannot fail to dramatically question the consciences of those holds public roles of any level and responsibility and the citizens themselves, at least the most sensitive ones, about the serious phenomenon of illegal/corporal work, especially in agriculture and construction, but also in the tertiary sector, with immigrant and non-immigrant workers who are exploited and underpaid. , …the human dignity and fundamental rights of people are offended….

The loss of life while doing a job, especially if in conditions of proven illegality and abusiveness, cannot be accepted passively, nor can one continue to hypocritically indulge in silence and indifference,…..

It is a problem of civilization in a society dominated by technical rationality and technological determinism, with the prevalence of an economy that is at times pirate-like, savage and enslaving, which seems to have no hesitations or worries about the progressive evaporation of the sense of humanity which also it should permeate it….

There is a strong and lively hope for more widespread and effective controls on the methods of carrying out work, of any job and, in any case, of those known to have the highest rate of accidents, to protect human life…
