Flames on the coast road – Taranto Good evening

Numerous fire outbreaks are developing in these hours on Salento coast road. Thanks to the sultry heat, flames were reported in several places Lido Silvana and the navy of Lizzano. The firefighters are working with enormous difficulty in dealing with this emergency which occurs every summer but which today seems particularly acute. From the Taranto Fire Brigade Command let it be known that all available means are used to extinguish the outbreaks that are spreading along the coast road and also in the area of Manduria. Bushes, roadside shrubs and, in some cases, even sections of pine forests caught fire. An emergency that would require many more men and resources to deal with. Just in recent days we have registered union complaints about shortage of staff and on the need to equip the Taranto Command with at least forty more operatives, as well as fifteen technicians. Fairings that impose exhausting shifts to the firefighters on duty. A situation that certainly does not help to adequately deal with the fire season. Reports of fire outbreaks have been arriving throughout the province and this increases the operational difficulties of the firefighters who are truly dealing with a day, one might say, of hell.
