ROME – Nine interminable minutes. Nine minutes underwater which were fatal for Lavagna’s mother who ended up in the water on June 8th with her car on board which he was leaving the tourist port of eastern Liguria. Fabiola Prosperini, 44 years old, after 11 days without regaining consciousness she didn’t make it. Even the youngest child struggles between life and deathaged 6, hospitalized at the Gaslini hospital in Genoa, where she had remained stuck underwater in the passenger compartment of the car.

THE WRONG MANEUVER IN REVERSE

The dynamics of the accident are being examined by the investigators: the family (father, mother and three children from Milan) were returning from a trip on some friends’ dinghy: during the maneuver on the quay of the tourist port, the car was reversing and hit a column and tore it up. Then she would end up in the water. A diver present (by chance) at the port at the time of the accident managed to save the father and two children aged 16 and 12. Instead, the mother and her other son were taken out of the water after those fatal nine minutes. They were in cardiac arrest.

FAULT OR HUMAN ERROR?

The Genoa prosecutor’s office has opened a case for negligent injury but “now the crime hypothesis has worsened. The public prosecutor Sabrina Monteverde – we read in the newspapers – has ordered investigations into the car, a car with an automatic transmission. It remains to be seen whether it was a fault or a fatal human error.”
