ROME. The charge against the employer of the Latina agricultural company under investigation for the workplace accident which, two days ago, saw Satnam Singh, a 31-year-old Indian man lose an arm and suffer several injuries to his legs, has changed. In fact, the San Camillo hospital declared the man “brain dead” and for this reason the prosecutor’s office registered the owner of the company on the register of suspects for failure to assist and manslaughter and no more injuries as initially hypothesized. The laborer didn’t make it.
The man, whose arm had been severed in a machine, had been loaded onto a minibus and instead of being taken immediately to hospital he had been dumped in front of his home in the countryside of the Pontine countryside. A delay that proved fatal. For this reason, the owner of the agricultural company was included in the register of suspects. Carabinieri investigations are underway to establish whether or not the man was regularly contracted.
If this were not the case, the owner of the company would risk another accusation. «The man had been hospitalized at San Camillo in Rome in very serious conditions, where he died this morning, after having been dumped outside his home together with his wife instead of being taken to hospital – reconstructs in a note the president of the Labor commission of the Lazio Region, Angelo Tripodi of Forza Italia –. The minister assured that all the facts relating to the accident will be verified so that “whoever committed it is punished”. Episodes of this kind “must lead institutions to be more incisive in combating undeclared work and promoting a culture of work”.
