Rome, 17 June. (askanews) – The life of teenager Riley is an explosion of emotions in “Inside Out 2”, the highly anticipated Disney Pixar film in cinemas from June 19th. Nine years have passed since the Oscar and Golden Globe-winning animated film, a blockbuster, which put a face to the emotions of protagonist Riley. Here she is 12 years old and in her life, in addition to joy, sadness, anger, fear and disgust, far more destabilizing emotions erupt, such as anxiety, envy, embarrassment and ennui, i.e. boredom. Director and producer of “Inside out 2”, Kelsey Mann and Mark Nielsen, came to Rome to present the film. “We wanted to make a fun film but one that had an important meaning, here the emotions are more complex. – explained Mann – It took a few years, we at Pixar make and remake films: we make storyboards, we watch them, and if they don’t convince us we start again. In this case it happened about ten times, and then in the end we found the right balance.” “Inside out” was a tool for children and adults to learn and question their own emotions. In the second film it is naturally the anxiety that overwhelms everything, that makes us imagine scenarios, projections and try to manage everything. Pilar Fogliati gives her voice in the Italian version, while Deva Cassel is boredom, Marta Filippi is envy and Federico Cesari is embarrassment. “Many screens light up for me too when a new challenge starts, sometimes they are stimulating screens, sometimes more anxious, but what always lights up is the idea of planning, of possible mistakes, in this I am similar to the character which I give voice to, which is anxiety” said Pilar Fogliati. At the opposite pole of anxiety, placid, detached, there is the emotion of boredom, and Deva Cassel reveals: “When I was little I was very bored and I hated boredom. For me the idea of staying in bed and not doing nothing, being with friends but feeling alone because you don’t want to do anything… really not. Then growing up and with the help of my mother, above all, who always told me that boredom is the most important emotion the intense and tumultuous and quick lives we have to have time to self-reflect and figure out what we want to do, there’s nothing but boredom.”
