Is having a protective full-face helmet, well-stocked and without spending a fortune on the purchase still possible? The answer is yes, but forget about the junk found on the shelves of shopping centres, it’s better to choose the protagonist of this episode of “MotorUnboxing”, namely the LS2 Stream II full-face helmet. Now I’ll tell you my impressions after trying it and its technical characteristics.
Stream II is the classic full-face helmet that is suitable for all occasions, from naked to sports, but also looks good on maxi scooters and touring motorbikes. The fit is rather enveloping, almost like a sporty full-face, also thanks to the presence of the chin strap which helps keep noise levels acceptable when traveling at high speed. The interior is lined with a rather soft fabric and comfort benefits from this. I tried it with the first real heat of the season and with the air vents open the air circulation inside the helmet is good, perhaps there are “cooler” helmets in circulation, but you have to go up with the budget. The field of vision is excellent, very wide indeed, and the construction of both visors – both the main one and the sun visor – is also of good quality and does not distort the view, which is no small detail when it comes to “entry level” helmets. All controls – visor opening, ventilation vents and sun visor – are easy to operate even with the thickest gloves. The weight is not very low – 1,550 g in size M – but once I put it on I had the impression that it was well balanced.

As can easily be understood from the name, Stream II is the evolution of the predecessor LS2 Stream, compared to the outgoing model it retains some features but there are quite a few new features. The first is that Stream II is approved according to the parameters of the new – and more stringent – ECE 22.06 regulation, therefore we are talking about a safer helmet in the event of an unfortunate fall. It retains the external shell in KPA, a material patented by LS2 that combines thermoplastics with aramid, but is now made in 3 different shell sizes to accommodate the various sizes and always guarantee the right balance between EPS and internal padding. The ventilation intakes are new on the chin guard and top of the shell, the latter is now unique when split to make it easier to regulate the air flow inside the helmet. From a safety point of view, the micrometric closure and emergency removal of the cheek pads are worth mentioning, to make it easier for rescuers to remove the helmet, while from the more practical/functional point of view, the provision for the insertion of Bluetooth speakers as well as the temples of a possible pair of glasses and hypoallergenic, removable and washable interiors. All visors are treated anti-UVA and anti-scratch, for the winter there is a predisposition for the Pinlock, too bad it is not included in the purchase price.
