GROSSETO – The practical course on «Parental nutrition preparation» was held at the Grosseto hospital. A training opportunity that saw numerous professionals from all over Italy in the «Misericordia» auditorium on 14 and 15 June. The course was promoted by Sifo (Italian Society of Hospital Pharmacy and Territorial Pharmaceutical Services).
The course is created by the scientific committee composed of Michele Bindimanaging pharmacist of the Misericordia hospital in Grosseto, Antonella Risoli of the Cosenza hospital, both members of the Sifo scientific area Metabolic diseases, malnutrition and clinical nutrition coordinated by Emilia Falcone of the South East Tuscany Local Health Authority. The two-day event is organized as part of the activities of the Italian Society of Hospital Pharmacy and the Pharmaceutical Services of healthcare companies.
The director of the Pharmaceutical Department of the USL Tuscany South East Company was also satisfied, Barbara Meini for carrying out the course which also had a phase entirely dedicated to practical exercises.
During the two days, the role of the hospital pharmacist in the preparation of personalized nutritional mixtures, such as nutritional and pharmacological tools, was discussed. The objectives of the course are to provide the essential basis for undertaking the activity of setting up personalized nutritional therapies and to promote specific training to develop the skills of pharmacists dedicated to the parenteral nutrition service. The general manager also attended Antonio D’Ursothe health director Assunta De Lucathe hospital director Michele Dentamaro who commented as follows: «The figure of the hospital pharmacist has undergone a structural evolution over the years which has made him a central figure within the hospital. This training course fits into this context and enriches the cultural background of these professional figures. I thank the organizers for their efforts.”
