The stretch of the Via Emilia between the hamlets of Cella, Gaida and Cadé is sadly known for road accidents, including tragic ones. For years the residents’ association ‘Brick on Brick’ has been fighting for greater safety. Last January, not without inconvenience, work began in Cella for the construction of a long cycle/pedestrian path

REGGIO EMILIA – “We asked for a stoplight to facilitate pedestrian crossing, we asked to establish 3 zones in inhabited centers0, we hope that the new administration will listen to us and intervene quickly” says Alberto Sassi of the Mattone su Mattone Association. The residents of the hamlets crossed by the via Emilia, Reggio-Sant’Ilario direction, they continue theirs battle for road safetyeven if the primary objective is to push the institutions to speed up the process to achieve the creation of an alternative road system, the much invoked and dreamed of via Emilia Bis.

At the end of January, work began on the cycle/pedestrian path in Cella which will lead from Cella to Gaida: a work that will guarantee greater safety for pedestrians and cyclists. There has been no shortage of traffic disruptions in recent months with the formation of long queues and protests from motorists, but also from several residents due to the increase in noise and smog. “It’s true, perhaps the works could have been scheduled at night, but I’m not a technician, I say that the cycle path is fine, but then maintenance needs to be carried out and not abandoned to itself” Sassi continues.

The construction site for the cycle/pedestrian path between Cella and Gaida will continue until the first months of 2025. The intervention, with a total value of 2 million and 650 thousand eurosis among the works financed for the urban regeneration of neighborhoods.
