Rescue for hikers on the Spinotti path: the difficult rescue

The group of hikers (aged between 19 and 57 years), made up of three women and a man, found themselves in difficulty at the end of the descent along the Spinotti path, near the terminal ladder located approximately 1800 meters of altitude. The hikers, worried about the steepness of the snowfield below, they contacted The number Of emergency 112 to ask for help, fearing slipping on the rocks below. The rescuers were transported to altitude by the regional air ambulance, despite the fog That limited there visibility, and disembarked along the path that leads to the Lambertenghi Romanin refuge.

From there, they continued on foot up to the canal where the Spinotti path begins and they have installed a fixed rope on the ladder, allowing hikers to descend safely with the aid of a handrail. Afterwards, the group was escorted down the trail and loaded into an off-road vehicle for the final stretch to the Tolazzi refuge.

Alpine Rescue recommends maximum caution when choosing itineraries at high altitude, remembering that above 1800 metres there is still snow, especially in the shaded areas facing north, due to a particular spring from a meteorological point of view, characterized by unusually low temperatures.

Alpine Rescue suggests plan carefully the excursions, taking into account weather and terrain conditions. Routes like the Spinotti path can be treacherous, especially in the presence of snow and fog. It is essential to be well prepared and equipped with the appropriate equipment and good physical preparation to deal with these situations.
