Udine, 16 June – “After the pandemic, tourism trends have changed profoundly. Today those who travel seek authentic experiences, in contact with nature and local traditions. In this sense, Friuli Venezia Giulia can boast an offer without equal: far from mass tourism, waiting for the visitor is a heritage of culture, art and unique flavours. No one is able to represent this richness better than small villages. This is why the Region convincingly supports initiatives such as the ‘Romantic Night’, which every year showcases local history and traditions to tell the truest and most authentic side of our Friuli Venezia Giulia, because with this event they guarantee not only an enhancement of the territory in a tourist key, but also an active effort to relaunch the internal areas”. This was said by the regional councilor for Productive Activities and Tourism Sergio Emidio Bini, on the occasion of the presentation of the Romantic Night 2024 which has as its underlying theme for this ninth edition the rhythm of passions, the rhythm of emotions. Present at the regional headquarters in Udine were the artistic director Emanuela Furlan, Markus Maurmair of the board of directors of the national association The most beautiful villages in Italy and Valentina Bortolus councilor of Sesto al Reghena representing the mayor, regional coordinator of the network of 13 villages which they present a single programme, from 22nd to 24th June, in thirteen variations of the idea of passion and emotion, as many variations on the theme. An unmissable weekend spread with fun, moving, dynamic, passionate, musical, theatrical, dance and romantic events to be together and discover the places, flavors and traditions of truly unique “ecosystems” to be witnessed also through the Borghi Click photography competition. “Slow experiential tourism is growing – added Bini – and Friuli Venezia Giulia is indicated as one of the regions that best lends itself to this type of visit. The numbers prove us right: we are the territory that has grown in recent years more in terms of tourist presences and among the most sought after by those who want to spend their holidays in Italy”. Bini said he was satisfied with the announced expansion of the locations in the network, the entry of Aquileia and Cividale del Friuli is awaiting official confirmation. In detail, Palmanova opens the long weekend of the Romantic Night, on June 21st, as a preview, with a tribute to Janis Joplin, Jimy Hendrix and Jim Morrison, a rock concert that also fits well into the annual event of the Music Festival; the surprising and entertaining contemporary circus theater show “Sconcerto d’amore” in Cordovado; the persuasive harmony of the strings to reinterpret classical, pop and rock songs in “Vivaldi on the rock” in Gradisca; the disturbing energy and dynamism of the dance of the Kataklò Athletic Dance in Sesto al Reghena; a visual concert in Strassoldo; in Venzone “La morteane” by Pier Paolo Pasolini; the dreamlike and slightly irreverent liveliness of the Balkan music of Radio Zastava in Polcenigo; the comic musical involvement of the eclectic Banda Osiris in Valvasone-Arzene; dinner under the stars between the liveliness of the samba and the saudade of the Bossanova in Poffabro; the passion in the different musical nuances of tango with the talented NEJ Quartet in Clauiano; the overwhelming energy of the Funkasin Street Band in Sappada; a concert/performance for theremin and cello in Toppo and, at the end, in Fagagna, at dawn a concert on the extraordinary notes of Nino Rota and, in the evening, the ancient flavor of popular traditions with the initiative dedicated to the Notte di San Giovanni .
