Climbing/ Pro Recco: gold medal won in Trentino

From the staff of Carlo Gandolfo, mayor of Recco

After having qualified with 9 athletes for the 2024 Italian Youth Championships, held in Trentino, and with two athletes for the Senior Italian Cup, the Pro Recco climbing team achieved excellent results. In particular, the athlete Forrest Marangoni won the gold medal in the bouldering specialty for the under 14 men’s category. But it is thanks to the sum of the results of all the athletes (22 participated in the Championships) that Pro Recco Arrampicata obtained third place overall for the team ranking out of 72 participating companies. The nine qualified athletes are: Giulia Tanfani, Giorgio Tosarello, Sofia Calzolani, Iris Versaci, Ginevra Tanfani, Sebastian Murphy, Michele Caputa, Forrest Marangoni and Maicol Perfumo.

Mayor Carlo Gandolfo expressed admiration and extended his most sincere compliments for the exceptional performance of Pro Recco Climbing at the 2024 Italian Youth Championships: “You have achieved extraordinary results, not only for winning the gold medal, but also for the successes of the team that represented our city, demonstrating great preparation. Congratulations also to coaches Andrea and Giulia Costaguta and Timothy Sturla for leading the team towards these important goals. Continue to climb new heights and raise the name of Recco high in the world of sport.”

It is important to underline that at the next Paris Olympics, sport climbing will be included among the various disciplines.
