Fincantieri in mourning: president Claudio Graziano has died. As Today.it explains, the 70-year-old’s lifeless body was found on the morning of Monday 17 June 2024, in his home in Rome. At the moment there are no certainties or further details on the cause of death, suicide is also among the hypotheses of death.

Born in 1953 in Turin, Graziano had a long career in the military world: from studies at the Modena Academy to holding the position of Chief of Defense Staff and president of the EU military committee from 2015 to 2018. From 2022 he was at the top of the shipbuilding giant. He had recently been struck by a serious loss, the death of his wife. Meanwhile, the news of Graziano’s passing has had repercussions on Fincantieri’s stock, which collapses on the stock market: below 5 euros and down by more than 3%.

In a note, Fincantieri expresses immense sorrow for the sudden passing of General Claudio Graziano, president of the group, which leaves a large and unbridgeable void. The CEO and general manager Pierroberto Folgiero, the Board of Directors, the board of auditors, the managers and all the employees of Fincantieri remember with emotion the extraordinary human and professional qualities that have always distinguished him in his long career.

Alessandro Piana, interim president of the Liguria Region: “I express my deepest condolences on behalf of myself and the regional council for the sudden passing of General Claudio Graziano, president of the Fincantieri Group since 2022 and former chief of defense staff. Graziano is was an example of dedication and service to our country, standing out for his integrity, his professionalism and his commitment to progress: a loss that leaves a void in the world of the country’s naval industry family of General Graziano, to his colleagues and to all those who had the honor of knowing him and working with him”.
