Thiene and Schio. Price increase for 2024 summer centers in the upper Vicenza area

The summer holidays have now begun and the parents of Thiene and Schio find themselves having to cover the expenses for the summer camps. A detailed analysis of the 2024 flyers available on www.sportellofamigliathiene.it and www.comune.schio.vi.it shows that prices for summer centers in the Alto Vicenza area have increased compared to last year. This increase represents a further economic challenge for families.

For the municipality of Thiene, the increase in costs is evident in several options. For example, the Cooperativa Margherita, which offers summer centers for children aged 6 to 11 at the ‘Collodi’ primary school, has kept part-time costs at 65 euros per week (55 euros for the second child), but the cost for full time it rose from 130 to 135 euros per week (from 120 to 125 euros for the second child). A 5% increase.

The new options for 2024 have slightly higher costs compared to 2023. The Smove ASD Cooperative, for example, for the 6-13 age group, has increased the cost for the half day from 70 to 75 euros per week and for the full day from 95 to 100 euros per week. The fee for membership and basic insurance has also increased from 7 to 8 euros.

Analyzing the rates of the summer centers in Schio, we note that the prices have increased here too. For example, for the “Summer in the woods” option the weekly costs have increased from 90 to 100 euros, while the rates for siblings have increased from 80 to 90 euros. For the “Kung Fu Panda” option, the cost of the full day has increased from 105 to 110 euros per week.

Practical examples show how these increases impact the family budget. Considering an average family with two children and a monthly income of 2500 euros, enrolling two children in the summer center of the Smove ASD Cooperative for an entire month can cost up to 760 euros, representing almost a third of the monthly income. For a single-parent family with an income of 1200 euros, enrolling a child in the “Kung Fu Panda” summer center in Schio for a month could cost up to 440 euros, making the expense particularly burdensome.

The activities offered in the summer camps include a wide range of options, from sports and recreational activities to language lessons and art workshops. However, despite the ample offering, rising costs are a significant issue for many families. The municipality of Thiene offers discounts for siblings and weekly packages, but the increases are still considerable.

The INPS Summer Center Bonus

To accommodate families, INPS offers the Summer Center Bonus, a partial or total reimbursement of expenses for the payment of the summer center intended for minors between the ages of 3 and 14. This contribution covers up to 100 euros per week for a maximum of 4 weeks, even non-consecutive, in the period from June to September.

The beneficiaries of this bonus are public administration employees and pensioners registered with the Unitary Management of credit and social benefits, as well as retired users of the Public Employees Management, including holders of indirect or reversibility pensions. Orphans in these categories can also benefit from the bonus.

To request the bonus, you must have a valid ISEE certificate. INPS recognizes the bonus to a maximum of 3,000 beneficiaries, who are selected via a ranking. The amount of the bonus varies based on the value of the ISEE, with a 100% refund for those with an ISEE of up to 8,000 euros, and decreasing percentages for higher ISEE values.

The application for the bonus can be submitted online through the “Welfare Portal in one click” service using your SPID, CIE or CNS credentials. The outcome of the application is usually communicated within 30 days via SMS or email.

This bonus represents an important resource for families who have to face the expenses of summer camps, helping them to better manage the family budget during the summer months.
