compared to the previous generation.
Considering that at launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 had a price of around 190-200 dollars per unit, Generation 4 will stand between $237.50 and $260. The reason for the increase in cost is to be found in the new production process used by TSMC. The Taiwanese chipmaker is using N3E technologies which offer greater reliability than previously used production processes.
Despite the higher final price, Qualcomm does not expect a decline in demand. All major manufacturers will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 also due to the expected performance. The first benchmark tests promise mind-boggling numbers and, with the increase in features related to Artificial Intelligence, a high-performance SoC is essential on modern smartphones.
